Big Picture Art Resource

About

This website was made with Highline Big Picture Students in mind! But feel free to share to other youth looking for opportunities

This website is a resource for younger students (Aged 13-16) to network and find internship opportunities through these connections. This website features organizations, contacts, and people I've all made contact with and would strongly recommend other students to look into! No matter your background or skill level in art or interviews

No matter your interest in art, it's important to get out and talk to other artists so you can set yourself up for success. You can get started by hitting the word “Explore” once you find an interesting contact. This will link you to the contact/organizations website. You can email them, or ask them directly about other contacts.

Creating a resource like this that supports artists specifically was important to me, because I struggled for years to find an internship. It was the height of Covid, and nobody wanted me in their studio. If not for Scott Mexcal, who took a chance on me, I would've never made the connections or grown the loving network of supporters I have now.

A Little About Me!

My name is Micheal Boyd and I am a soon-to-be graduate of Traci Washington's 401 Advisory. I've been a part of ASB, and BSU, and put on many school events during my high school career. The arts and animation have always been at the forefront of my interests, and finding new and creative ways to introduce my drawing skills into my projects has always been exciting. This website is one of them. Before a month ago, I would've never imagined myself learning HTML and CSS from the ground up, but it has been such a fantastic journey. If I had never met any of the mentors I have now through art-related opportunities, I don't know where I'd even be. This website speaks to how important it is to have a community to support you in whatever you do, even if it takes some finding.
